Our Story
How We Got Started
Paradise 4 Kids (P4K) was first established in Australia (formerly known as Paradise Kids 4 Africa) as a branch from a charity based on the Gold Coast, Paradise Kids. It was formed primarily to fund and support the works of Reverend Themi in Africa and also to assist other missionaries in their calling from God.
Where We Are Now
Now, with committees all around the world, P4K have set themselves apart by being an entirely voluntary organisation with no one receiving remuneration. Our volunteers are just a group of ordinary people coming together to make a positive difference to those who may never have the opportunity otherwise. Some call themselves Christians, others humanitarians, but all are looking to make every cent raised, reach the people it is intended to.
95%+ of your donations reach those in need.
Since P4K was first established, we have worked hard to make sure that all resources entrusted to us are used as efficiently and effectively as possible, and thanks to our generous volunteers, we can maintain that no less than 95% of all funds collected go to approved charitable works. Of that 95%, 10% remains within our respective countries to help children in need. The remaining 5% goes towards accounting fees, audit fees, and bank and transfer fees.
Accountability and transparency is of the utmost importance at P4K, which is why your donations are sent to and dispersed by our trusted mission beneficiaries who send monthly financial and photographic reports. P4K pays no salaries, operates no offices and owns no property. This means more of your donation goes directly to those in need.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does P4K decide which missions to fund?
Raising funds is just half the job; making sure it is spent properly and frugally is the most important issue any charity has. This is why at P4K our criteria is simple: to fund missions that are led by moral people; people who work for the right reasons and who are accountable and transparent.
In our pursuit for worthy missions, we have found over time that those who suit our criteria best were men and women of faith; people who followed a code of practice more important than image, ego, and even their own lives. Many of these men and women once lived in a world of plenty, but left these comforts to live and work in the same surroundings as the ones we look to help. This is why people support P4K and our missions.
Is P4K a Christian organisation?
We are a Non Denomination organization. Faith is central to who we are. We strive to be active, visible, tangible and bring justice to the poor and oppressed. Our faith does not limit us though — it calls us to serve anyone in need, of any colour or faith, without judgement or exception.
Why is charity important?
The Bible contains more than 400 verses regarding the poor, social justice, and God’s deep concern for both. We may think: “Of course God loves the poor; he loves everybody,” but it’s not as simple as that. God’s character is presented as a model for our own. If God values the poor, we have to think about what that means for us.
Of all the times Jesus speaks of compassion to the poor and downtrodden, none is more compelling than the parable of The Sheep and the Goats. Jesus describes the actions of those welcomed into his Father’s kingdom and ends with, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Being close to Christ means being close to the poor, and this is why at P4K, we do what we do. Charity is giving with no return, no profit, no recognition; giving with absolutely no benefit except the promised reward from God Himself.
Does any member of P4K receive remuneration?
No. All those who work or travel are volunteers and all the administration staff are volunteers. The only people who receive any remuneration are local people. This supports the country’s employment and contributes to national development. P4K has no offices, no fancy equipment and every cent (less local government fees, audits, bank fees and minor operational expenses) we raise goes to someone in need.
What is Rev Themi’s role in P4K?
Rev Themi does not belong to, nor preside over Paradise 4 Kids, he neither controls the organizations, nor receives any remuneration by them unless specifically gifted via the PayPal page. Paradise 4 Kids is just a sponsor to the works of Rev Themi for the Orthodox Church.
Not all P4K members in Australia, USA, UK, Africa or PNG are Christians, but every member is fully committed to supporting Rev Themi’s and all our causes, in their efforts and we have complete confidence in their stewardship and unquestionable characters.
