A Future 4 Kids – Zambia

Support Pastor Joyce Chimbila in her work to counsel, feed and educate the orphaned, abused and neglected children in Ndola, so that they may find footing in their own lives.

Joyce Chimbila is a Northrise graduate. She has a mission on her heart to care for the abused children of Ndola so she created Arising Life Ministries.

Along with abject poverty, these children have had to endure forms of abuse including sexual, verbal, physical, mental and neglect Joyce is a beacon of hope in their lives. Arising Life Ministries for orphaned and vulnerable children counselling and empowerment centre was opened on 2nd July 2009 and has since been under Northrise University (NU) outreach. Mrs. Joyce Chimbila, a Northrise University student runs this centre.

This ministry has been a life long vision of Mrs. Joyce Chimbila, a bachelor of Theology student at Northrise University. ALM’s mission is to support, educate and counsel children as well as their mothers, to help them find some footing in their lives.

As part of its mission, the center cares for up to thirty-five children. It provides them with basic education beginning at first grade to seventh grade. Most of these children are orphans coming from homes that live on less than a dollar a day. Upon receiving this basic education, these children are able to read, write and communicate using English. For those that perform well, the center tries to place them in high school and offer financial support in any way possible.

Through various projects, the centre has made tremendous strides in improving the premises, making it more habitable and comfortable for these children. A recent project that has added value to both the center and the local community is sinking of a borehole. This borehole was sunk by Seeds of Hope to ease the problem of water supply. A wall fence is also being erected to improve security of the premises.

Motivation

Toyohiko Kagawa wrote: “I read in a book that a man called Christ went about doing good. It is very disconcerting to me that I am so easily satisfied by just going about.”

The first 12 years of my life were spent in countries where my church was both missionary and involved in social improvement by education and health support. There and always, both my Christian parents tried “to do good.” On reading Kagawa’s words as a 20 year old, what I had incompletely understood was made clear.

Our Vision

To provide holistic care to some of the poorest and most disadvantaged children in the world.

This means helping to provide a high quality education, with health, spiritual and feeding programs. It includes extending this care out to their families (or carers in case of orphans). In the years to come, that these children, who had no certainty of even survival, will grow to become a powerful force for God and good. By this they will transform their society.
